Blessed Antony Fatati’s Life History

Antony Fatati was born in 1410 AD, Ancona, in the Papal States, from a family of three sons, his brother being Marino and Lacopo, born from Simeone Fatati and Buzia dei Lavaroni. He received his studies for priesthood in Bologna.

He got appointed canon and arch-priest of San Ciriaco Cathedral on November 5 1431 AD by Bishop Astorgio Agnesi while holding a position as Vicar General of Rogusa from 1440 to 1441. He was appointed abbot of San Pietro al Conero convent in 1440 by Pope Eugene IV. Je was named canon of St. Peters Basilica on June 4 1447 by Pope Nicholas V and was later made cleric in the Apostolic Camera in 1449. He was once Alfonso V of Aragon’s Councillors in 1456 as he had impressed the king with his way of life and his management capabilities.

He was appointed bishop of Teramo on November 6 1450 AD by Pope Nicholas V. He was then assistant bishop of Siene, as appointed by Pope Pius in 1460. His skills further impress the Pope, having him appointed permanently as Bishop of Ancona e Umana on November 3 1463.

Pope Paul named him treasure for Bolgna from 1466 to 1470 AD. Fatati was widely respected by high ranking clergy for his professionalism, his management skills and his holy way of life.

Antony Fatati died in his diocese on January 9 1484 in Ancona, Papal States and was buried in the cathedral. His remains were later found in-corrupt after their exhumation in 1529 AD.
