Blessed Arnold Reche Biography
Blessed Arnold Reche was also known as Julian-Nicolas Rèche. He was the son of Claude and Anne Flausset Reche, a poor family in a little town.
His dad was an incredibly religious shoemaker and Nicolas was one of nine youngsters.
He grew up with solid religious qualities and dreaded transgression. He underwent catechism instructions and thereafter he instructed other youths in catechism.
Later on, he moved to Charlesville, still as a youth, and there he started to slip away to the secular common life.
He became a coachman for a well-off family and a muleteer for a contractual worker constructing a neighbourhood church.
His auntie, who lived close by, persuaded him to change his ways of life for the better, and eventually Nicolas started to attend classes directed by the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
Nicolas came back to his senses and began serious penance. He joined the LaSalle Brothers in 1862 at age 28, taking the name Brother Arnold, and making his last pledges in 1871.
He filled in as a doctor, treating the injured in the channels during the Franco-Prussian War, and was granted the Bronze Cross for his work.
He taught for fourteen years at the boarding school on the Rue de Venise in Reims, France, and was noted as a fair instructor and a remarkable educator of Christian principles.
He was the Executive Director of Novices at Thillois in Reims from March 1890 till his passing on a couple of months later.
