Blessed Balduino of Rieti, born as a noble family, the son of Berardo X, Count of Marsi; his brother Rainaold was abbot of the Abbey of Montecassino and 1138 appointed cardinal by Pope Innocent II. Benedictine Cistercian monk in the Abbey of Clairvaux. Spiritual pupil of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. Abbot of the monastery of San Matteo di Montecchio on Lake Montecchio in 1130. Abbot of the monastery of Saint-Sauveur in the diocese of Rieti, Italy.
