Blessed Edmund Duke was a priest in England, born in 1563 in Kent, England. He was imprisoned for being a Catholic Priest, then hanged and died as a martyr on May 27 1590 in Durham, County Durham, England during the persecutions of Catholic Faithful by Queen Elizabeth I.
He is one of the Martyrs of Douai and also one of the Martyrs of England, Scotland, and Wales. We celebrate his feast day on May 27 every year in the Catholic Church.

Blessed Edmund Duke Life History
Edmund Duke was a priest in France but a native of Kent England. He and three other newly ordained priests namely Richard Hill, John Hogg, and Richard Holiday, natives of Yorkshire, England, decided to back to England in 1590 to evangelize to the Catholics who were being persecuted during the rule of Queen Elizabeth I.
When they were travelling, they were arrested in County Durham, England, and sent to prison in Durham. They were sentenced to death and while in prison they converted several prisoners to become Catholics.
They were beatified on November 22 1987 by Pope John Paul II.
