Blessed Gregory Celli of Verucchio was an Augustinian monk, born in 1225 in Verucchio, diocese of Rimini, Italy and died in 1343 at the Franciscan monastery at Monte Carneiro, Rieti, Italy. We celebrate his feast day on May 11 every year in the Catholic Church.

Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Gregory Celli of Verucchio was born in 1225 in Verucchio, diocese of Rimini, Italy. He lost his father at an early age and was raised by his mother. As a fifteen-year-old, he became a lay-brother of the Augustine Hermits. While his mother founded a monastery for the order of the hometown.
Gregory was thrown out of the monastery for unfair reasons by other monks. Homeless and lowly, he was taken in by the Franciscans at Monte Carnerio. There Gregory died at 118 years old In 1343. The mule carrying his casket to the Rieti Cemetery reversed his direction and instead went to Verucchio, where the bells greeted his arrival.
