Blessed Leokadia Matuszewska was born on 8 February 1906 in Stara Huta, Swiecie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, diocese of Pelplin, Poland. She was a member of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Due to the turmoil of World War II, she was never able to make her final profession in the Sisters. She was also one of the Martyrs of Nowogrodek who were killed for their faith in the Nazi persecutions.
