Blessed Pietro Parenzo, was a layman in the 12th century AD. He was kidnapped by a gang of Patarine heretics, hit in the head with a hammer, and died as a martyr on May 21 1199 in a hut just outside Orvieto, Italy. We celebrate his feast day on May 21 every year in the Catholic Church.
