Blessed Robert Sutton Biography
Blessed Robert Sutton, a protestant minister; 1571 Rector of Lutterworth, Leicestershire, England. The transition to Catholicism led to the belief of his younger brother William, who became a Jesuit priest. With his younger brother Abraham he studied in 1576 in Douai, France. Consecrated in February 1577 to the apostolic vicariate of England. Robert returned to England on March 19, 1578, to serve Catholics during the persecution of Elizabeth I. He was arrested and martyred for the crime of priesthood.
