Blessed Tommaso Acerbis Life History
Blessed Tommaso Acerbis was born to a poor family and worked a shepherd in his youth and received no schooling at all. Thomas joined the Capuchin Friars Minor on 12 September 1580 at Verona, Italy. Thomas made his final profession on 5 July 1584 and served as a clerk in convents in Verona, Vicenza, and Rovereto until 1617. Thomas liked to visit the sick and the poor. When Lutheranism began to make inroads in the area, Thomas spoke and wrote in defense of the Church.
Death
He died on 3 May 1631 in Innsbruck, Tyrol, Austria of natural causes. He is buried in the chapel’s crypt of Our Lady at the local Capuchin church in Innsbruck .

Thomas was Venerated by Pope John Paul II on 23 October 1987.
