Blessed’s Biography
Blessed William was born in Toulouse, France in the year 1297 and entered the Augustinian Order at 19 years of age. After completing his studies in Paris, he spent most of his life in Toulouse. William attracted many people to religious life.
Bl William of Toulouse promoted devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title Sorrowful Mother, and for praying for souls in Purgatory. According to legend William was known for his simple life, deeply spiritual preaching. He died on May 18, 1369.
