Biography
Blessed Anne-Marie-Madeleine Thouret, Carmelite nun, claimed on August 19, 1740. Sub-prioress in 1764 and 1778. Sacristan of her home’s chapel. One of the Carmelite Martyrs of Compiegne, slaughtered in the counter Christian mistreatments of the French Revolution. Guillotined on July 17, 1794, at the Place du Trône Renversé (present day Place de la Nation) in Paris, France. Before their execution they bowed and recited the “Veni Creator”, as at a calling, after which they all recharged so anyone might hear their baptismal and religious pledges. Among eleven Discalced Carmelite nuns, three lay sisters and two laywomen hirelings who were martyred together in the French Revolution. They were the most punctual saints of the French Revolution that have been perceived.
