Blessed Bonaventure Tornielli was born in 1411 AD in Forli, Italy. He joined the Servite Order in 1448 AD and became a Bible expert. Though he was noted by his brothers for his love of contemplative silence, he became one of the greatest Servite preachers.
His preaching missions spread throughout southern Italy and the Papal States. Most of his preachings were always on the theme of repentance. Pope Sixtus IV used to now refer to him as the Apostolic Preacher. He also served several years as vicar-general of his Order.
