Blessed Celestine of the Mother of God was born on 26 October 1848 AD in Marradi, Florence, Italy. She early felt drawn to religious life. She also established the Congregation of the Daughters of the Poor of Saint Joseph Calasanzio (Calasanzian Sisters) in 1889 AD with a mission to teach the poor and the children of prisoners.
