Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Christian Lemarchand was the son of a soldier. Converted to Christianity and lived part of his youth in Indochina Vietnam and Algeria. For fourteen years, he was the director of the Saint-Charles College of Thonars (Deux-Sèvres). In 1981 Christian joined the Trappists in the abbey of Bellefontaine and moved to Algeria and Morocco in 1990. He was among the monks Captured during the night of 26 to 27 March 1996 during the civil war in Algeria. They were detained for two months and then murdered because they were Christians.
