Blessed Davíd Carlos-Marañon Biography

Blessed Davíd Carlos-Marañon, born into a wealthy family, son of Domenico Carlos and Gregoria Marañon. Served in the military. Then he disappointed his family by following a call to religious life, became brother of a lay piarist in Estella, Spain on June 4, 1931, and exercised his solemn profession on June 28, 1935. Served as a gardener and cook for his community. In the persecutions of the Spanish Civil War, priests were automatically murdered, but David had the opportunity to live if he renounced religious life and gave up his habit; he refused. Martyr.
