Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Hildegun of Schönau lived disguised as a male in a monastery. She traveled with her father on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Bl. Hildegun joined Cistercian monk in Schönau, Germany. Legend describes her as a miracle worker. Upon her death was her gender discover.
Note bl. Hildegund should not be confused with Saint Hildegund (c. 1130–1178), whose feast day is 6 February.
