Biography

Bl. Martí Tarrés Puigpelat joined the Franciscan Capuchins on 21 November 1886 in Spain and was later ordained on 24 June 1901. He became a popular preacher in the region and was made the superior of the Monasteries in Igualada and Arenys de Mar in Spain.

He later became the Capuchin examiner of Central America. Marti was arrested on 16 February 1937 in a residence where he was hiding from the anti-Catholic Marxists during the Spanish Civil war. When they discovered that he was a priest, he was killed hence becoming a martyr.
