Bl. Mikel Beltoja Biography
Bl. Mikel Beltoja was trained on theology by Bishop Ernest Coba of Shkodre in Albania. He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1961, as a priest in the archdiocese of Shkodre-Pult, Albania. Following the closure of all churches in Albania in 1967, Mikel traveled from village to the other ministering to people and conducting masses where he could.
He was arrested on April 19, 1973, in Beltoje, Albania and imprisoned for several months. Mikel was tortured and finally given a trial. At last, he was martyred.
