Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Peter Thomas was born in 1305 AD in southern Perigord, France. He entered Carmelite when he was 21 years old. In 1345, he was elected by the Order to be its General Procurator at the Pope Court in Avignon. In 1354, he was appointed the bishop of Patti and Lipari. Peter was transferred to Coron in the Peloponnese in 1359 and appointed bishop and Papal representative for Eastern Europe. In 1363, he was appointed Archbishop of Crete and in 1364 a patriarch of Constantinople. Known as an apostle to the unity of the church.
Death
Peter Thomas received the over command of a military expedition against Alexandria, Egypt in 1365. Here he was wounded and died three months later in Famagorta, Cyprus, in 1366.
