Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Richard Sergeant (aka Lee or lea) was born in Gloucestershire, England. He studied in Reims and became a priest in Lyon. Executed as a seminary priest in Tyburn by being hanged, drawn, and quartered on April 2, 1586.
He was Beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987, as one of Eighty-five martyrs of England, Scotland, and Wales. They have a common memorial day on November 22, or April 20th.
