Blessed Shtjefën Kurti Biography

Blessed Shtjefën Kurti studied in Albania, in Graz, Feldkirch and Innsbruck in Austria, and in Rome, Italy. Appointed a cleric in Rome on 13 May 1924 for the archdiocese of Tiranë-Durrës, Albania. Ward minister in Skopje and Novoselo (in current Macedonia and Kosovo) from 1921 to 1929. To escape abuses in the locale, he fled to Albania and after that Romania. Area cleric in Shan Prendja, Gurës, and Tirana.

Kept in touch with the League of Nations on 5 May 1930 to attempt to attract thoughtfulness regarding the oppression of Albanian Catholics in Kosovo. Captured by Communist government experts on 28 October 1946 and detained in Tirana and after that Burrel for the wrongdoing of Christianity, he was condemned to death, however, the sentence was driven to 20 years, and he served for 17, at last being discharged on 2 May 1963.

He kept on being liable to mental fighting by the Communists in the expectation of breaking his confidence so he could be utilized to impact others; at one point he was compelled to cause his very own downfall, the experts reproduced an execution – and afterward discharged him in expectations the injury would make him lose his confidence.

It didn’t work. He kept tending to abused Catholics in Tirana, Juba and Gurës. In 1967 he fought off a group plan on annihilating his congregation; this prompted him being captured and condemned to 16 years in a constrained work camp. In 1970 he covertly sanctified through water an infant kid; when the specialists scholarly of this wrongdoing, he was re-captured and executed.
