Biography
Bl. William Richardson grew up in the area of Sheffield in England. He studied at Rheims, France and then the English College in Valladolid, France. He also studied at the College of Saint Gregory in Seville, Spain from 1592 to 1594. William was then ordained a priest in 1594 and returned to England to minister to convert Catholics hiding under the name William Anderson.
He was then betrayed by a friend to the authorities, arrested and condemned to death for the crime of priesthood. He was the last martyr of the persecutions of Queen Elizabeth I and prayed for the just before he died.
