Blessed William Ward Biography
Blessed William Ward, risen Protestant. Teacher. Traveled to Spain with a Catholic friend and joined the Church there. At home he converted his mother. Repeatedly imprisoned because he had expressed his faith. At the age of 40, he went to Belgium to study for the priesthood. Ordained. Took the name Father William Ward. Traveled to Scotland, where he was immediately imprisoned for three years. He worked for the next 30 years in and around London, secretly serving the Catholic population and the poor in general. Often imprisoned or banished. At some point betrayed by a priest hunter and thrown into Newgate prison. Martyrs and said, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, accept my soul!"
