Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Zofia Czeska-Maciejowska was born in 1584 and had eight siblings. Zofia Czeska-Maciejowska was married to Czeska and widowed at a young age. The couple didn’t have children, so she chose to give her life to Jesus Christ. Despite her young age, Zofia Czeska-Maciejowska never married again and dedicated her life to charitable work.
From 1621 to 1627 she used her own money to set up a home for poor and orphaned girls. The foundation was named (The House of Virgin Mary’s). This turn to be a school for ladies.
On May 31, 1627, she received the official approval of (The House of Virgin Mary’s) by Bishop Marcin Szyszkowski of Kraków. The school (girls) was the first in Poland.
