Saint’s Biography
Saint Athelm of Canterbury was the paternal uncle of Saint Dunstan of Canterbury. He became a Benedictine monk at Glastonbury and the abbot for the monastery. Athelm was named the first Bishop of Wells in 909. In 914, he was appointed the 20th Archbishop of Canterbury after Plegmund (890-914). He died in 923 of natural causes and was succeeded by Wulfhelm (926-41).
