St Basil of Ancyra Biography
St Basil of Ancyra was born in the early 4th century. He was a Priest in Ancyra, Galatia (in Asia Minor). He fought against the Arian heretics in the reign of Emperor Constantius, and against the iconoclast heretics in the persecutions of Julian the Apostate. The safeguarding of orthodox Christianity by Basil led to his imprisonment, torture, and execution. Basil was then later martyred.
