St. Benedict of Sebaste Biography
St. Benedict of Sebaste was also known as Benedict of Poitiers. He was the bishop of Sebaste in Samaria. During the persecutions of Julian the Apostate, Benedict fled to Gaul. Recluse close Poitiers, France where he pulled in such huge numbers of would-be understudies that the cloister later known as Saint Benedict of Quincay grew up around his isolation.
