Saint Charles Garnier Biography

St. Charles Garnier was the son of the affluent Jean G and Anne de Garault. A studious chap whose wellbeing was never solid, he early felt a call to religious life. Considered works of art, theory and religious philosophy at the Jesuit school of Clermont, France. Joined the Jesuits in 1624. Appointed in 1634. Preacher to Canada in 1636.

Teacher to the Huron for a long time, one of the celebrated “dark robes” who lived in awful conditions to carry the confidence to the far north. Kicked the bucket when the post at which he was positioned was assaulted by Iroquois. Charles spent his last hours tending to the withering before he was killed. One of the Martyrs of North America.
