Biography

Saint Cyril of Thessaloniki, an orphan at age 10, he turned into a disciple to a Turkish shoemaker. Forced by his lord to disavow Christianity and become Muslim, Cyril fled to the Chilandar religious community on Mount Athos. After eight years he was found by Muslim specialists, captured for leaving his apprenticeship, and requested to disavow Christianity; he won’t. A martyr. Consumed to death in 1566 close to the congregation of Saint Constantine in Thessaloniki. Feast day on July 5.
