Biography
Saint Emanuele Lê Van Phung, hitched layman in the missional vicariate of West Cochinchina (in current Vietnam). Father and catechist; he fabricated a congregation, a religious circle for the Daughters of Mary, a home for preachers, and a school. Captured on 7 January 1859 in the abuses of head Tu-Duc for the wrongdoing of harboring a priest. While in jail, Emmanuele kept on asking his family to stick to their confidence and show philanthropy to the persecutors. A martyr.
