Biography
Saint Gualtero of Lodi, lone child of Aliprando and Adelazia, devout parents who were childless for so long that they promised God to dedicate one of their children to the Church. The San Raimondo il Palmerio hospital in Piacenza, Italy, begins his lifelong dedication to caring and the poor. His father died long afterwards; His mother entered a convent, Gualtero sold and gave away all her property, and the two devoted themselves to God. Gualtero worked at San Bartolomeo Hospital in Lodi, Italy, as a kind of anchorite on the site.
He founded clinics for the poor and pilgrims in the Italian cities of Fanzago, Vercelli, Tortona, Crema and Melegnano. With the financial support of the city of Lodi and the Archbishop of Milan (Italy), he founded together with a co-priest the Hospital of Mercy in Lodi, which was visited in April by many brothers, sisters and hermits as well as neighboring James and Philip 30, 1206 for his ascetic life, working barefoot and traveling and dressed in burlap, he could have said that he had given no more than his immediate need.
