Saint’s Biography
Saint Hermengild was the son of the Visigoth King Leovigild with his first wife. In 570 he married the daughter Sigibert I of Austrasia. King Leovigild entrusted Hermengild with a rule in southern Spain. In 579 he rose against his father, reason he gave the fight against his false belief.
Arrest and Death
His father immediately disinherited him in 584. A year later, Hermengild arrested in Valencia imprison. Hermengild tortured and axed to death on April 13, 585. Killed on orders of his father for refusing to denounce Catholicism.
