Saint Julian the Hospitaller Biography
Saint Julian the Hospitaller was a noble layman who was a counselor to the King and was married to a wealthy widow. A deer he was hunting predicted that he would kill his parents. This made him move away from his parents to avoid them. However, they found him making a surprise visit. His wife gave the parents their bed and Julian killed them thinking they were his wife and another man.
They went to Rome, Italy for penance to seek absolution. On his way home, he built a Hospice on a river bed where he cared for the poor and sick and assisted travelers to cross the river for free.
After some time, Julian gave his bed to a pilgrim leper who was freezing to death. When they had settled safely, the man revealed that he was an angel. He announced that Christ had accepted Julian’s penance and the disappeared.
