Saint’s Biography

Saint Lydwina was born at Schiedham in Holland in 1380. Her father was a poor nobleman, and her mother came from ordinary people who were also very poor. When fifteen, Lydwina offered herself to God.

At fifteen, amusing herself with skating with her companions. She fell roughly broken pieces of ice and broke a rib. The fall left her paralyzed and suffered for decades. Saint Lydwina spent her time praying, meditating, and offering her pain to God.

St. Lydwina of Schiedam Death

She died on April 1433 on Easter at Schiedam, Netherlands of natural causes.
