St. Maro Biography
St. Maro was a hermit who lived near River Orontes generally in the open with no shelter. He found a pagan temple and dedicated it to God making it his oratory. He was later ordained a priest ion 405 AD.
Maro spent his nights in prayers and had the gift of healing both physically and vices. He founded monasteries and trained monks in Syria. He was a great friend of Saint John Chrysostom and a spiritual teacher of Saint Limnaeus.
