Saint’s Biography
Martyrs of Upper Egypt were many Christians in the desert around Thebes killed during the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian (284-305). An eyewitness, Eusebius, writes how the executioners themselves were embarrassed with the gruesome work that was assigned to them: whoever turned out to be Christians were beheaded or burned alive
