St. Miguel Febres Cordero Muñoz Biography
St. Miguel Febres Cordero Muñoz was born to a prominent family where he had an unknown disability and could not stand. At age five, he received the vision of Our Lady. At age eight, he was miraculously protected from being hit by a wild bull.
He enrolled in school at age 9 which was run by the Christian Brothers, an order which had come to Ecuador recently. Miguel joined the Bothers on March 24, 1868, when he was of age 13.
He became a teacher at El Cebolar school a task he did for 32 years. Miguel was described as a gentle and dedicated teacher who wrote his own books the first being at the age of 17.
He was sent to Europe in 1905 to translate French texts to Spanish for use by an order. Miguel worked basically in Belgium but his health began to deteriorate in 1908 and then he was transferred to a school near Barcelona, Spain. He later died in 1910.
