Saint Modestinus of Avellino Biography

St Modestinus of Avellino was born to the Asian minor nobility. He then became a bishop in Antioch, Turkey in 302 AD working with saint Fiorentinus and Saint Flavianus. Modestinus was then imprisoned in the Diocletian persecutions and fortunately fled to Italy.

He was again imprisoned for his faith in Locri, Italy by the local authority but was released for healing the governor’s daughter through prayer. This made the governor and his entire family convert to Christians. He was reported to have converted 4000 in one area before he was imprisoned and martyred in the Maximinian persecutions.
