Biography
Saint Nicolaas Pieck, the child of John Pieck and Henriea Clavia, a devout Catholic family with a long history. Taught at Bois-le-Duc, Netherlands. Joined the Franciscan Friars Minor at Bois-le-Duc. Learned at Louvain, Belgium where he was appointed in 1558. He proselytized all through the Netherlands and Belgium, lecturing against apostasy, urging Catholics to remain by their confidence. Known as an amicable, open, cheerful, humble man, perpetually attempting to carry individuals to God. Named gatekeeper of a religious circle in Gorkum where he lectured against Calvinism and in help of the Real Presence in the Eucharist.
At the point when the stronghold of Gorkum was seized by the Watergeuzen, the Calvinists detained the ministers and religious. They tormented Nicholas by hanging and consuming him with a light. He and his kindred detainees were offered their opportunity on the off chance that they would revoke the expert of Rome; they declined. One of the Gorkum Martyrs.
