Saint Maximus of Riez Biography
St. Maximus of Riez was Brought up in a Christian home, in his childhood he started to live as a loner there.
A priest at the religious community established by Saint Honoratius in Lerins, France. Abbot in 426; Saint Sidonius expounded on the renewal of the devout life under Maximus’ authority.
He ended up known as a marvel specialist and his notoriety for knowledge and heavenliness spread to the point that he fled to live as a woodland loner.
Hesitant diocesan of Riez, Provence, France in 434, blessed by Saint Hilary who had followed him down at his withdrawal.
Lived as much as a priest as his livelihood as diocesan would permit. Gone to synods at Riez in 439 AD, Orange in 441 AD, and Arles in 454. One of the most compelling priests in the Gaul of his day.
