Biography
Saint Willibald of Eichstätt, born a ruler, the child of St. Richard the King. Sibling of St. Winnebald of Heidenheim and St. Walburga. Identified with St. Boniface. He about kicked the bucket as a baby, driving his folks to petition God for his life, vowing that he would be devoted to God in the event that he endure. He achieved Jerusalem on 11 November 725, and is the main known Englishman in the Holy Land; the book of his movements, Hodoeporicon, is the primary known English travelog. Willibald then gone through ten years helping Saint Petronax reestablish the cloister of Monte Cassino; served there as sacristan, senior member, and doorman. In 740 he was sent by Pope Gregory III to help Saint Boniface proselytize the region that is present day Germany. Appointed on 22 July 741 by Saint Boniface, and sanctified as an evangelist minister by him on 21 October 741. Established a teacher cloister in Eichstätt, Franconia (in current Germany. Worked with Saint Sebaldus. First cleric of the see of Eichstätt. With Saint Winnebald, he established the twofold cloister at Hiedenheim in 752.
