Catholic Quote of the Day May 7th, 2019
“I feel so nailed to the will of God that nothing else matters, neither death nor life. I want what He wants. I want to serve Him as much as pleases Him and no more.” ~ St Rose Venerini
Who is St Rose Venerini?
Rose Venerini was born at Viterbo in 1656. She was the daughter of Godfrey Venerini, a physician.
After the death of the young man who had been paying court to her, she entered a convent. But after a few months, she had to return home to look after her widowed mother.
Rose used to gather the women and girls in the neighbourhood to pray the Rosary together in the evenings. She found how ignorant many of them were of their religion and she began to teach them.
She founded the Blessed Rose Lay School Teachers as a religious congregation for the Venerini Sisters. They are found in America as well as in Italy
St Rose Venerini died, on May 7, 1728, Beatified on May 4, 1952 by Pope Pius XII and canonized on 15 October 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI.
