Saint’s Biography

Saint Accursies of Morocco was a Franciscan monk who, together with Saint Francis of Assisi, evangelized the Moors of the West. Accursies and his fellow missionaries preached in Italy, Aragon, Coimbra, Seville, and finally in Morocco, where they lived in exile. He was killed upon his return on 16 January 1220. His relics were ransomed, and are now in the monastery of the Holy Cross in CoimbraPortugal.
