St.Alfonso Maria Fusco Biography
St.Alfonso Maria Fusco was the son of Giuseppina and Aniello been the eldest in a family of five. His parents had a problem of having children but had children after visiting the relics of Saint Alphonsus Maria d’ Liguori and had a message that they would have a son Alfonso.
He was confirmed and received his first communion at age seven and at eleven, he announced his interest in Priesthood. He entered the seminary of Nocera dei Pagani on November 5, 1850, and was ordained a priest on 29 September 1863.
He was noted for his devotion to the liturgy and as a gentle confessor. He was among the founders of the Congregation of the Baptisine Sisters of the Nazarene a group devoted to caring for the orphans, abandoned children and youth at risk. Their first house had the name Little House of Providence.
