Saint Anna Wang Biography
Saint Anna Wang,
Born to a poor Christian peasant family, Anna's mother, a pious woman who died when she was five years old. In addition to her schooldays, Anna worked with the family, but her teacher, Sister Lucy Wang, continued the religious instruction begun by Anna's mother. When she was 11 years old, Anna's family tried to force her to marry, but she fought against it. On July 21, 1900, an armed group of anti-Christian, anti-Western boxer rebellion entered their village, burned the church and ordered them to renounce Christianity. Many did so, usually to rescue their children who had also been killed, and Anna's stepmother encouraged them to do so. Anna refused, spending her remaining hours in prayer and encouraging others in her faith. A Martyr.
