St Aquila of Egypt, also known as Aquila of Nîmes, was a Christian born in the 3rd century AD in Egypt. He was torn into pieces with iron combs and died as a martyr in 311 AD in Thebais, Egypt during Christian persecutions in the reign of Roman Emperor Galerius Valerius Maximinus. We celebrate his feast day on May 20 every year in the Catholic Church.
