St Atilano Cruz-Alvarado was a Catholic priest born on October 5 1901 in Ahuetita de Abajo, Teocaltiche, Jalisco, Mexico. He was shot dead and died as a martyr on July 1 1928 in Las Cruces, Cuquío, Jalisco, Mexico during the Cristeros rebellion in Mexico. He is one of the martyrs of Cristero War. We celebrate his feast day on May 21 every year in the Catholic Church

Saint Atilano Cruz-Alvarado was a priest in the archdiocese of Guadalajara, Mexico, when ordination was a crime in Mexico.
Atilano provided the Catholics with a safe house and administered the sacraments secretly and hidden from the authorities. He was killed in the Mexican Revolution.
