Saint Claude de la Colombiere Biography
Saint Claude de la Colombiere was born to the French nobility where he felt an early call to religious life. He schooled first at the Jesuit College in Lyon, France and became a priest. He also taught humanities in Avignon, France. Claude went to continue his studies in Paris, France and became a tutor. He preached against Jansenism advocating for the dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
He joined the Jesuits in the year 1659 AD and became a spiritual director of Saint Margaret Mary of Alocoque. Claude converted many protestants through the example of his holy life. however, he was imprisoned for some rumour that he had some plot against the king but Louis XIV protected him form been martyred. He was then banished from England and returned to Paray to die because his health had been affected by the imprisonment.
