Saint Colman Mac Ui Cluasigh of Cork was a professor at Cork in the 7th century. Colman wrote prayerful poet seeking protection for the yellow plague that killed one-third of Ireland’s population. He led his students on a pilgrimage to an island in the ocean to escape the epidemic in 664.
