Saint’s Biography
Saint Desideratus of Bourges was born in Soissons, France. His family was a pious family. Desideratus’s parents turned their house into a hospital, and his brothers, Deodato and Didier, died as martyrs. Desideratus was a henchman and advisor to king Clotaire. In 541 Desideratus wanted to retire as a monk, but was chosen to serve as bishop of Bourges. He Attended the 5th Council of Orleans in 549, and the 2nd Council of Auvergne. He died on May 8 550 of natural causes and buried in the basilica of Sant’Ursino, Bourges, France, the building of which he began.
